Scottish National Orchestra, Neeme Järvi.

The Chandos series of Järvi's recordings of Prokofiev's music including the symphonies, belong to my top interpretations. Not only do we get State of the Art recordings like with this CD, but we also get Järvi's unique insight into the orchestral works of Prokofiev. Järvi is a driven and inspired conductor, that keeps the fire real hot, and the passion at a high level. Tempi's are always spot on, and the detailing is amazing. Dynamics are well judged, and there is never a step outside this excellence. A constant quality of execution. I have these recording since they were released and coming back to them is a intense pleasure. Prokofiev at its very best. I am sure there are more interpretations, also good, but for me they never overrule Järvi.
