Works performed:

ETA Hoffmann.

Overture: Undine.
Overture: Aurora-Overture and Marsh.

Friedrich Witt.
Sinfonia in A major.

Performed by:
Kölner Akademie, Michael Alexander Willens.

Both composers are frequent visitors in my listening room, and although I have other recordings from Hoffmann's works, Witt his Sinfonie in A major was a missing link in my collection. And blimey what fine performances are this, with a simply stunning recording adding to the overall magic. Hoffmann's music is always invigorating, and Witt's Sinfonie is an excellent partner in crime. Willens brings out all kind of unexpected surprises with his detailed and a in depth approach, that works wonders with the melodic content of this music. Not a boring moment, but a thoroughly enjoyable passing of your time. Very elegant performances which has all to give and nothing to omit. A safe recommendation.
